HORTICULTURIST / AGRONOMIST

HISHTIL SOUTH AFRICA, A LEADING VEGETABLE SEEDLING PRODUCER IN THE LIMPOPO PROVINCE, HAS THE FOLLOWING VACANT POSITION AVAILABLE AT OUR MOOKETSI NURSERY (TZANEEN AREA)

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Commercial seedling production according to international quality standards
  • Implementation and monitoring of irrigation and pest control programs
  • Guidance and management of the cultivation team
  • Maintain and manage growing supporting systems
  • Responsible for research and development programs within the company
  • Be able to give strategic inputs to the company.

Requirements:

  • Honours / Master’s Degree in agriculture or horticulture
  • Min of 2 years’ experience in vegetable farming
  • Be able to lead and motivate a specialised group people.
  • Computer Literacy (word, excel, power point)
  • Fluent in English & Afrikaans:  write and speak
  • Ability to work in a team, delegate and follow up.
  • Valid driver’s licence & Own Transport

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Preventative Plant Maintenance
  • Preventative Fleet Maintenance
  • Project Planning and Project Management Skills
  • Implementing Safety Procedures in the workplace
  • Manage the Maintenance team
  • 24 Hour Breakdown and Assistance
  • General upkeep of the Company Premises

REQUIREMENTS

  • Grade 12 with 4 years Practical Experience
  • Computer Literacy
  • Basic understanding of plumbing, electric and welding.
  • Own Transport
  • Good communication skills
  • Fluent in Afrikaans and English
  • Well organized with attention to detail
  • Ability to work during weekends and Public Holidays
  • Prepared to work in a smoke free environment
